| Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs host the Hawksbee & Jacobs show each weekday between 1:00pm-4:00pm with radio’s funniest sports show.
From the early days of the Friday Night Kickabout in 1999, the Hawksbee & Jacobs show has grown to become one of radio’s funniest and most entertaining shows found anywhere on the dial. There have been laughs, tears and giggles throughout the years from Andy’s efforts on the Birthday Spread, Anti Niemi on the Clips of the Week and the runners and riders with clerk of the course Andrew McKenna on Escalado and betting from Ian Abrahams. In recent years, Hawksbee & Jacobs have broadcast their show each weekday |
| afternoon having plied their trade at weekends, evenings and drivetime. Some of the most high profile guests on the show include: Pele, Martin Johnson, Gordon Ramsay, Brian Clough, Dickie Bird, Smokin’ Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Colin Jackson, Ray Winstone, Richy Benaud, Steve Waugh and Peter Osgood. Paul and Andy became friends in 1998 when Andy invited Paul to join the team on ITV’s Fantasy World Cup show. Andy has watched as much football as was humanly possible during the 50-plus shows he has produced for the Frank Skinner and David Baddiel and thought he could do with some much needed company. Their job was to give the two sofa-bound satirists some of the ammunition to help them fire the bullets. Skinner and Baddiel will happily tell anyone who will listen how frequently they missed their target. Prior to Fantasy World Cup, Paul had been the Head of Media at Chelsea despite being a massive Tottenham fan, the Editor of both 90 Minutes and Goal Magazines and a scriptwriter for, amongst others, Spitting Image, Frankie Howard and Harry Hill. Andy had previously been Sports Editor of Channel 4 Daily, produced basketball and American Football programming and coverage on television and was founding editor of FHM. Check out Paul and Andy on the Hawksbee & Jacobs show every weekday afternoon between 1:00pm-4:00pm on talkSPORT following the sports bulletin with Andrew McKenna. Listen on: 1089/1053am, DAB Digital Radio, Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Tiscali TV. |
| At the end of Fantasy World Cup, Paul and Andy worked together at Avalon Television, producing shows for comedians Jenny Éclair and regular guest on the show Lee Mack. They also devised television formats of their own including Home Before the Post Cards, a big budget game show based entirely on a throwaway line from former Manchester United Manager and talkSPORT presenter Tommy Docherty, The Big Push and, of course, ITV's and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Paul and Andy made their debut in 1999 standing in for Tom Watt and Gary Newbon on 505. Andy had dabbled in radio when younger and wanted to get back into it and following a short trial period on their internet radio station they got the regular gig on the Friday Night Kickabout. Since then, they have presented a number of shows on the station in a vast array of different timeslots. Away from talkSPORT, both Paul and Andy are passionate about their football clubs, Tottenham and Chelsea respectively, but only one of them is virtually psychotic when they lose and shows it on-air. Paul is continuing his television work as part of the team on Harry Hill's TV Burp on ITV and has had a stint as presenter on You’re on Sky Sports alongside many of the pundits that have appeared on talkSPORT including Alvin Martin, Ray Houghton and Alan Mullery. They also like to help those less fortunate than themselves and a few years ago they took on the patronage of a young son of East Anglia, full of lip but heavy of heart Jonathan Beales. Miraculously, their ward has flourished and the fruits of their labour can be heard presenting in the afternoon on talkSPORT from 1:00pm. |
