Meet the talkSPORT Presenters

Ian Collins brings current affairs and topical debate on The Morning Show each night between Sunday and Thursday on talkSPORT after a number of years presenting the station's overnight slot.

With one eye on what's happening in the corridors of power at Westminster and the other on all matters pop culture, The Morning Show on talkSPORT has proved to be the most compelling programme on the dial. Collins is the unofficial spokesperson for common sense; the all-round nice guy who voices his own political and social values and more importantly, gives the listeners a chance to give their views.

Collins initially joined, what was then, Talk Radio as a producer on the overnight show but before long became the full-time host of the show. He jumped at the chance having presented shows for the BBC and Invicta FM in Kent with the Creatures of the Night becoming almost must-listen to radio for thousands of students, night-staff and insomniacs across the UK and worked alongside a number of characters on the show. He has also hosted a number of other shows on talkSPORT including Ian Collins: Ubranded and was the hosted of the mid-morning phone-in show between 2004 and 2006.

Away from talkSPORT, Collins has played a monster in
Dr Who before it was brought back by the BBC in 2004. He numbers the acting part among his accomplishments during a career in stage and television. He has also undertaken supporting roles in The Bill and London's Burning. Nor, as you listen, would you think of him as a Pontins Bluecoat, but was. Collins also worked as a journalist for several years before becoming a radio presenter and was the last person to interview his friend and legendary actor Peter Cushing before his death in 1993. During the interview he pledged to dedicate his novel, once it is completed, to him.

Working during in the evening gives Collins plenty of time to indulge in his hobbies, which include cars, alternative music, British comedy and the arts. He plays the keyboard, is learning to ride a horse and as a self-confessed Chelsea supporter, even before the day's of Roman Abramovic. Collins likes nothing more than to watch his beloved side down his local with whole bunch of his mates watching Chelsea in action. His last visit to The Bridge came when Sheffield Wednesday were last in the Premiership and was a long time ago.

Ian wrote a book called
I Bet You Won't Read This: Confessions of a Night Time Radio Host with tales of his time as presenter of the Creatures of the Night on talkSPORT and Talk Radio. His publication also includes some of his hate mail, pictures and profiles of the other creatures and a guide on how to get into radio.
