Before working at talkSPORT, Durham grew up watching Peterborough and still tries to get to see them as much as he can. Never short of an opinion on any matter, but with a background in news journalism, he knows the importance of getting the facts right having worked for Independent Radio News which, at the time, was news provider for Virgin Radio for both their London FM and national AM services Following his role with IRN, he freelanced for a number of radio stations including TFM in Middlesbrough, The Pulse of Yorkshire and Red Rose Radio in Lancashire. He also worked for Hereward FM in Peterborough where he reported on Hartlepool v Cambridge. Durham's big breakthrough came at Viking FM in Hull whilst at University where he starting reading the sports bulletins for the student radio station. Durham is interested in most sports away from football and has a massive passion for Super League in particular. He supports Hull FC having seen them play whilst at University in Hull and tries to get to the KC Stadium whenever he can. He also tries to play football, golf and cricket for the talkSPORT team against the Bunbury’s for the last couple of years alongside Mike Mendoza, Andy Jacobs and Paul Hawksbee. Durham's sporting heroes include Nick Faldo, a man who became World Number One despite no family history in sport and which he did through pure dedication. He was lucky enough to be part of talkSPORT’s Open Championship coverage in 2003 and 2006 and interviewed the man himself. Other sporting heroes include David Beckham and Jeff Stelling, the presenter of Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News. |
